In planning the development, we carried out research into the historical settlement pattern in Morvern, and commissioned an archaeological survey.

It found that

“Achnaha was first recorded in 1390 and Achabeag in 1494.  By 1841, the former had a population of 22, while Achabeag’s population of 67 included shoemakers and weavers as well as agricultural labourers.  Achnaha gradually reduced in size through the 19th century but Achabeag was cleared wholesale in 1863.”
